Welcome to Virpiniemi sighthound track! Välkommen till Virpiniemi!
The Virpiniemi sighthound track (or Virpiniemi Greyhound Station) is located in Oulu, northern Finland.

We organize regular practices every Wednesday evening (17:30-) and several official competitions (Finnish Kennel Club) during the summertime.
To register your dog in a Finnish sighthound event, please use the entry form by the Finnish Sighthound Association, and send it to the organizer (ratakisat@osvkh.net) together with a copy/image of the dog’s pedigree and license card (repeat every time you enter your dog in a Finnish event):

Measurement requirements for Whippets and Italian Greyhounds: If your dog does not yet have an official measurement result (height at withers), it has to be measured before the event (size classes). If the dog is measured before its second birthday, the result is valid until the end of the year when the dog turns two. If the dog is measured at the age of two or more years, the measurement result is final.
If you need a measurement we will organize one for you, preferably at latest on the day before the event. All clubs in Finland have registered measurement officials who can help you.
Options for entry (entry period August 3th – August 16th):
Saturday August 22th 2026:
- Oulun Juoksija: Race, two heats for each dog (large breeds and whippets 280m+480m, small breeds and veterans 280m+280m), fastest combined time wins – 30 € per dog
- 280m, 350m, 480m or 280m for veterans (born 2018-2020) (you can enter the dog on one or two different distances), one heat with speed groups within the breed if possible – 25 € per heat
An information letter with a preliminary schedule is published before the event. The detailed race program is published only when the event starts (office opens). Dogs have to pass a veterinary inspection before every heat they participate in. Vaccination certificates and ID/microchip are required.
Event fees can be paid in advance or when you arrive. We have a camping area for event participants with electricity, shower and sauna for a small fee that can be paid at the cafeteria during the event.
